My new favorite thing

So it is tomorrow as Melanie has commented. It was a crazy morning this morning with grocery shopping and paying bills that this is the first time I have sat for a moment.

Soooo, what was I so excited about last night? It was about something that was happening in my bedroom. No....I am not going to tell you about those type of things, get you minds out of the gutter.

We finally got a new bed! We bought our first bed when we got married almost 13 years ago! It was definitely worn out. There was a dip on one side of it where the spring stopped working. I tried to get a good pic of it but you can't really see it.
Before:

I know, the quilt that is on our bed right now is pink. My mom made it for me and it is so comfy that Stephen doesn't mind the color.

Anyway, we got a little bit a of a tax return this year. After paying a few bills we bought a bed. It was delivered yesterday and Stephen and I set it up last night. It was a good thing too because I don't think that under our bed had been cleaned for like four years. Can you say DUST?!?

Even though we bought the same size as we had, the bed seemed bigger because we didn't have to avoid the dip. Plus the bed is huge. I almost need a step-stool to get onto it and I am 5'10". The mattress is 17 inches. We had to buy the over sized sheets for it. Holy Cow! Have any of you had to buy sheets this big? Luckily we found a 50% off sale. We bought a cheapo set (I say cheapo because they weren't cheap, just lower thread count) and a nice set. Anyway, it was a good night sleep and my back didn't hurt this morning when I got up. Oh, happy day!

Can you see the difference? Before and After. Big difference!

I am so excited for

I am sooo excited for tonight!

I will tell you about it tomorrow.
Maybe.

Pres. Hinckley is so smart!

I love this quote and it is so true!

"Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal- is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he has been robbed. The fact is that most putts don't drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, and most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is just like an old time rail journey with delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinder, and jolts, interspersed occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."---Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley

The best thing to do with snow

Is have a SNOWBALL FIGHT!!!

It snowed only about an inch the other day but the kids and Stephen had fun in it.

All the kids ganged up against Stephen.

Even Gavin got in on the action.

Kylan getting the best of his dad.

Beck came and showed me his snowball and after I took the picture he threw it as me.

Hunter wasn't very happy that he got a big snowball in his face.

I am sooo ready for Spring!

I am tired of the snow and winter. I am ready for the sun to shine and to be able to run outside and not worry about bundling up. Maybe I will just sit and look at my blog background instead of looking out my window.

And the Winner is....

All 3 of you!

Since you three were willing to play along and show me some love I will give all three of you something. I haven't quite figured out what exactly but I have some pretty cute ideas in my head. So I will start working on them and send them to you soon. It might take me a little while because I am feeling pretty busy right now.

Oh.... did you want to know what his Valentines box looked like?

Jen - my house is full of Star Wars everything and my kids are always pretending to be some kind of Star Wars guy- so you had a good guess but not quite.

Ann - my kids love all of those things also and I can see future Valentine boxes being one of those but not this year.

Emily - again Star Wars everywhere and the blood and heart thing was getting closer but not quite. Plus, I wouldn't let him take anything with blood and gooey stuff sooo....

A GARBAGE CAN!!! He thought that it was funny to "throw away" the valentines and not show any lovey-dovey! I swear BOYS - what do you do with them?
Plus, it made a little bit of sense since his valentines that he gave out were gummy bugs with cute little sayings like "Give Me a Bug Hug" or "Best Buggies" or "Valentine, I think your a fly". So he also put bugs all over his stinky garbage can.

Anyway, his teacher told me that all of the kids thought that it was funny and she thought that it was really cute. I am glad that the girls didn't get their feeling hurt that Kylan was "throwing away" their valentines that they worked so hard on. I remember being a girl and trying to figure out exactly what valentine to give to each person depending on how much I liked each of them or what message I was trying to send them. Maybe other boys are like that but my boys could care less. They just put their names on the cards and then just throw them into whoevers box. They don't care what the card says just what candy comes with it. Maybe when they get older they will start paying attention to things like that. I am happy to wait for things like that. My boys can be 23 before they start realizing girls don't have cooties.

How can you tell that you have a boy?

We just finished making Kylan's V-day box for school. How can I tell that I have a boy? I will post a picture of the box in a few days. I want you to guess, so leave me a comment with your guess. The closest will win something. So rack your brain and start guessing. What would definitely be a boy v-day box creation?

Two give-aways right in a row? I must be crazy. Or maybe I have that Lovin' Feeling and want to share it. :0)

You can Win!

My "cousin" Jen started this. So you can blame her. I think that it sounds fun. So give it a try.

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you.
This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2. What I create will be just for you.
3. It'll be done this year. {might be a little while}
4. You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a story. It may be poetry or maybe even some creation I haven't even invented yet. I may draw or paint something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
5. I reserve the right to do something extremely strange. The catch?

Oh, the catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog. The first 5 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they did win a FAB-U-LOUS homemade gift by me!*Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it!*

You don't know how good it is until it is gone!

A couple of years ago the local stores stopped carrying our favorite packet of Chinese Chicken Salad dressing. It was weird, they all just stopped carrying it. We went to every store and eventually none of them carried it.
We were sad and tried to find a replacement. We tried my mom's honey mustard dressing. It was very good but not the same. We tried a few different Asian dressings out of the bottle. We found a couple that we thought were pretty good and we made do for a couple of years.
I finally figured out how to contact the company of my favorite Chinese Chicken Salad dressing and they sent me an order form.(Now they have a website) I ordered it and the dressing packets came just a few days ago.
So we had one of our favorite meals last night with our favorite dressing. Man, we did not remember how much we liked it. It was really good and so much better than those bottled dressings.

Do you have a cough bowl?

Last month we had a few days that almost all of us were sick with a couple of kids that had the stomach flu also. In our house when you are sick with the stomach flu we have a bowl that sits next to you just in case you can't make it to the bathroom in time (if you know what I mean). Anyway, the bowl made its rounds sitting next to different people depending on how they were feeling. Beck was one of the lucky ones that only got the cough and runny nose but he wanted his turn with the bowl sitting next to him. So we played along a little bit.

Here is our "sick bowl"

One day after Beck was feeling better he asked me where the cough bowl was. I asked him what he was talking about and he said he needed to cough and he needed the cough bowl. He finally found it and came to me to show me what he was talking about. Apparently since Beck only coughed in the bowl he thinks that is what it is used for. Coughs. So now every time he needs to cough he goes and gets our "cough bowl". Too funny little Beck. It makes me laugh every time when he needs to cough. Eventually I will need to set him straight but now it is so cute all I can do is smile.

Almost as good as Twilight!

After Twilight I needed something to read and think about. Stephenie Meyers (Twilight author) recommended a book on her website that she said she couldn't stop reading. So I wanted to check it out. It took a few weeks for my library to get because it was a brand new book. I checked it out as soon as it came in and both Stephen and I loved it. We can't wait until the next book comes out. It is called "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. If you have a hard time with patience you might want to wait until the next book comes out because it is one of those books that as soon as you are done you can't wait for more of the story. (like Twilight was for me) Anyway, I highly recommend it. I also think that it would make a great movie.

After reading The Hunger Games I checked out another one of Suzanne Collins books to see if I would like it as much. It is called Gregor the Overlander. It is a little bit of a younger book (my 10 year old probably would like it) but I also liked it. (not as much as the Hunger Games). Stephen also read it and liked it. We are onto the second one in the series. (Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane). Anyway, if you or one of your kids are looking for a good read, I would recommend these books. They are a good read.

I'm addicted!

A Smoothie King opened up in our area a couple of years ago. We went and tried it out. It was good but not something that we needed so we didn't go very often. Recently, Hunter got a coupon for a free smoothie from school. So we went a couple of weeks ago for a treat one Monday night. Stephen got a banana one that was soooo good. Since then I have gone back two more times to get the Banana Boat. It has banana, ice cream and ice. They also put a sweetener in it called Turbinado. Since I am taking a nutrition class I got one of their nutritional guides and was surprised at how many calories my treat was. 550 calories!! They have a thing that you can ask to "Make it Skinny" which means that they will not put the sweetener in it. So last Saturday we went and got two Banana Boats - one with Turbinado and one without. We wanted to check out the difference in taste. You could tell a slight difference but they both were still good. So from now on I am going to get it "skinny" and save myself 100 calories. I am going to try and figure out how to make it at home. It seems like it should be pretty easy but we will see. Last time we went the kids got a strawberry shake and they loved it. They said that it was the best strawberry shake they had ever had. We aren't huge fans of the chocolate that they use there though. Anyway, we need to start experimenting and figure out these good recipes at home to save on the budget because we are addicted!

The best part of Superbowl....

This is my 100th post to this blog and I wanted to make you smile.

I think that the best part of the Superbowl is the commercials. Yes, I am one of those. I don't mind watching the game but I don't mind missing it either. Anyway, here are some of the commercials that I found funny.

These were just a few of the commercials. I like the ones that make me laugh. The 3D ones were also cool this year.

Hello Again!

So the month of January is over! YEAH!!! January is the hardest month for us because it is the busy time at my work and they require us to work all 31 days straight. Although this wasn't as bad of a January as others, it still is hard for all of us. Anyway, now maybe I will have some time to update my blog.

I bought the kids some new toothbrushes a couple of weeks ago. There was a good sale on a four pack and that was the perfect amount for my kids so that is what they got. When I got home they all got to pick out their color of toothbrush.

Did you see what color Gavin got left with. He doesn't care but still...

PINK!!! I didn't notice that one was pink. I hope he doesn't hate me when he gets older.
