Last day of school

Today was Kylan's last day of 4th grade. I always get excited along with the kids for summer but I also get a little sad. I can't believe how fast the year goes every year and I am sad that Kylan isn't going to have his same teacher again. We have been very lucky that I have loved every one of Kylan's teachers. They have all been perfect for Kylan. Here is Kylan and his 4th grade teacher.



We are also so proud of Kylan for all of his hard work this year. He is one of those kids that comes straight home and opens his backpack and gets his homework done first thing. Rarely have I needed to remind him to get his homework done. He usually doesn't ask for any help, which means he is paying attention in school. This year he received several awards for his hard work. One of them was the medallion award. To receive this award you had to achieve 90-100% in all subjects, including math, reading, writing, spelling, social studies, science, ROAR and citizenship. Not very many kids received this award in the 4th grade but Kylan was one of the few. We are so proud of our awesome kid. He achieved every goal that he had set for the year. I remember at the first parent teacher conference when he told his teacher his goals, she hesitated and told him that they were going to be hard to achieve. She said that she would write them down for now and that we would re-evaluate them at the next conference. By the next conference he had achieved all most all of them and set some new ones. Again, I remember his teacher was hesitate on his reading goal saying it was going to be really tough to accomplish it by the end of the school year. She wrote it down telling him to try his hardest but to not get discouraged if he didn't quite get it done. Once again he finished his goal. We are sooooo proud of him.

2 year olds

Well, Beck is almost 3 (I can't believe it) but he is still 2 for a little bit longer. One frustrating part of this age is they try so hard not to take a nap anymore. I usually give in and let them stay up but sometimes they just can't. Right now Beck is to the stage that he still kind of needs a nap. If he doesn't get a nap he is grumpy and tired about dinner time. If he gets a nap he wants to stay up way too late because he isn't tired. What do you do? Anyway, here is a picture of him the other day. He was suppose to be helping me fold laundry while he watched cartoons. I hadn't noticed him talking for a few minutes and looked over and found him like this. He was so tired.

Spring!

I love spring! It finally gets warm and so many pretty things start growing. Our yard has so many pretty flowers and trees. I am so glad that the person who lived here before us liked to garden because we have benefited from it. I don't know much about growing things. I do a really good job of killing things. I am slowly learning though. Here are some pretty pictures from our yard. I missed the opportunity to take pictures of all of the tulip that bloom. Maybe next year.


I love these pink flowers. I know so much about flowers that I don't even know their name. This is a picture of them right before they start to wilt and die.

I love these multi-colored flowers. We just planted these this last weekend. I am trying hard to keep these alive. Let's see how long I can.

This is an awesome tree. It has bright pink flowers that smell sooooo good. I wish there was smell-o-vision so you could smell these flowers.

Beck picked some lilac flowers, another one of my favorite flowers. I also love the smell of these flowers.

My baby boy Kylan is 10!

Kylan is 10! Can you believe it? I can't! Here are some highlights from his birthday party.

Kylan had to make a poster for his school class. We also took his favorite treats: donuts and chocolate milk.

Kylan's birthday cake, Cold Stone's Reese ice cream cake. It was so good and with a really good coupon it was cheaper than making a cake and buying ice cream. What a deal.

Kylan is almost done with 4th grade. I can't believe it. Another year of school is almost over. They went on so many field trips this year, here are some pictures from a couple of them.

This picture reminds me of a picture of when I was little. I will have to find it and try to post it.

It is finally warm enough!

We have had so much snow and cold that we are ready to finally have some warm weather and we are spending as much time as possible outside. Monday night FHE activity was no different. We take turns getting to decide what we do for our Monday night activity and this week was Hunter's turn. He picked to go to the park and ride scooters. We all agreed that this was a great activity.

Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo is not a big holiday for our family but for some reason this year I wanted to do something for it. So we went to our favorite Spanish restaurant and had an awesome dinner. They had a special that came with dinner(fajitas), drinks(coke) and dessert for two. It was really busy but it was fun.

Future posting

I am going to try this posting a post in the future(a feature that blogger has added). I am typing this at noon 5/6/08 and going to set it to post 5/7 at 4 am. I don't know why I picked the date and time. Probably because I would never be blogging at that time. Let's see if this works.

Bubbles and Boys

My kids (I think all kids) love bubbles. They are not my favorite thing because it usually includes me having to blow them while the kids try to chase and pop them or the bubbles spilling everywhere because the kids tried to blow the bubbles themselves. Don't get me wrong I like bubbles but I don't always say yes when my kids ask to play with them.
When I was growing up my parents made a super bubble blower. It is kind of hard to explain without seeing it but it was a plastic stick with a cord attached to it. My mom would fill a bucket with homemade bubbles and we would go out and make huge bubbles. We would dip the cord into the bubbles and then turn around in a circle and make bubbles bigger then we were. I don't think that we have any pictures of them, but mom if we do I would like copies for my scrapbook. Anyway, we found these cute wands that do about the same thing and best part of it, the small wands were $1 and the large wand was $3. My kids have played so much with them that we have already refilled them with bubbles once. Now the kids love "blowing" their own bubbles and we haven't had too many spills
